Where to donate Food and Other Goods
Grassroots organization of volunteers located at the Nanawale Long House Community Center. This group has been running a food pantry for their community and building resilience by sharing they systems and their bodaciousness.

They have been preparing to respond to a crisis and have been delivering out to the more remote communities, including to those who have difficulty leaving their home. Easy to prepare food, toiletries, LARGE PAPER BAGS, Baking Soda, paper goods, feminine hygiene supplies baby items are needed. Shopping cards for Walmart, Ross, and Target are welcome, as well as Gas cards for Pahoa stations, too. Many families left Leilani Estates and are now with 'ohana in Nanawale. Please follow Food Basket's FACEBOOK PAGE for up-to-the-minute needs and information about the community response to the lava flow. As of this writing, Food Basket is DESPERATELY in need of donations of bottled water to distribute to the Puna communities affected by the lava flow. The Food Basket is accepting donations of bottled water, nonperishable foods, easy to prepare foods like canned or instant foods and soups, paper goods, supplies, and money to help with disaster relief efforts in the Puna district.
PLEASE NOTE: Food Basket is also taking NON-FOOD Donations and driving them to distribution centers in Puna. Toiletries, paper goods like paper towels and toiletries, clean linens, small transistor radios, diapers and feminine hygiene items are needed.

Hawaii Island Salvation Army thrift stores is accepting in-kind donations of clothing that will benefit those impacted by the current Puna lava flow. To donate large volume meals, local restaurants and certified kitchens may contact The Salvation Army at (808) 756-0306. Please note, smaller, home-prepared foods and meals cannot be accepted for meal service at shelters due to health safety food preparation standards.
Facebook page for the amazing 100% community-driven grassroots donation drop off across from Pahoa High School. Pahoa Kalapana Road, Pahoa. 10AM to 6PM. Distributes emergency aid and information and serves hot meals. Please check their Facebook page for frequent updates.

Hawaii Island Humane Society has deployed up to eight animal control officers each day when allowed access into Leilani Estates to search for animals. We have gone door-to-door but much of the subdivision remains off limits due to safety concerns. Hawaii Island Humane Society continues to leave food and water for those animals in Leilani Estates that we have not yet found and rescued.
